ROG Flow X13 - Design Story
Feng Shui Vision joined the shooting team of Taiwan's first virtual production commercial project "ASUS ROG Strix Series" in November 2020 to provide technical support related to XR virtual production for the project.
In this shooting, Feng Shui introduced active tracking equipment, lens information encoders and Unreal Engine, and the shooting team switched back and forth between a large 14 x 4 meter LED wall and a seamless green screen studio. Achieved a pioneer shooting of 12 scenes in only 5 days.
XR virtual production technology began to sprout from the 2019 American high-profile TV series "The Mandalorian" and entered the public's field of vision. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the global film and television industry was almost completely shut down. Multiple advantages of virtual production such as no need to go outdoor for framing, no weather restrictions, and miniaturization of the team have allowed some of the filming work to continue during the severe epidemic, and related technologies have developed rapidly since then.
The core of high-end XR virtual production technology is to use one or more workstations running Unreal Engine or virtual production platform software, and play the high-quality virtual scenes generated in the software instantly through LED screens spliced with one or more sides. The background when the film is shot; when the camera moves the lens, changes the focal length or focusing distance of the lens, the virtual background on the screen can instantly show the same changes as the real world. It's like being in a virtual scene, and it's hard to tell if it's real or fake.
Virtual production is bound to become the standard specification for global film and television production in the near future. Feng Shui Vision hopes to bring some assistance to the upgrading of Taiwan's film and television industry through continuous research, promotion and introduction of software and hardware technologies related to virtual shooting.
